So Ida-Sofie, what makes Astrup Fearnley Museum a must-visit?
Visitors can expect an exhibition that includes various artists and artworks. The museum continuously updates its exhibitions, offering a lively blend of new and classic works. Thanks to our collaboration with Astrup Fearnley Museum, we can provide an art experience that goes beyond the artworks you find with us.
The Astrup Fearnley Collection is one of Europe's most comprehensive collections of international contemporary art. Can you tell us more about it?
Right now, you can explore the Astrup Fearnley Collection until December 30th. The idea behind the collection was born in the 1960s from Hans Rasmus Astrup's vision, which is an exciting mix of over 1,500 contributions to contemporary art. With a special focus on the transformative 1990s—with names like Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, and Cindy Sherman—many of the artworks were created during this decade and the early 2000s, when several artists achieved their breakthroughs.

"A living blue room that gives the feeling of being enveloped by the sky."
Which artworks would you recommend seeing?
Among the collection's outstanding works is Jeff Koons' iconic 'Michael Jackson and Bubbles' (1988), a white porcelain sculpture. The piece depicts Michael Jackson lying in a field of flowers with his chimpanzee, Bubbles, holding a white cloth. There are three versions of this sculpture: the second is at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the last is at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Another highlight I would recommend is Børre Sæthre's 'My Private Sky' (2001). This artwork takes visitors on a journey from a waiting area through a portal into a vibrant blue room, creating the sensation of being enveloped by the sky, where they encounter the striking taxidermy wild horse.
This work made a significant impact when exhibited in 2001, gracing the cover of a prestigious art book, Installation Art in the New Millennium (Thames & Hudson, 2003), and was recognized as one of Norway's most remarkable art events of the decade.
